There are a few ways if you have a Chromecast setup for your streaming device that you can watch your shows from Kodi and I will detail a couple ways you can do this below. There is also a video that will show you the steps to setup Localcast on an Android phone so you can also use your phone while streaming. Localcast will stream in the background allowing you to continue using the phone as a phone as well and not worrying about any personal messages or calls showing up on the big screen.
I have added a new post that is available if you are wanting to simply mirror your phone to your Chromecast device. This will make everything, not just one app such as Kodi stream on your TV, but instead everything. To see the steps required to make an exact mirror of your phone cast to Chromecast, click here.
1. Use Google Home App
This is the easiest and the most popular way to stream your Kodi or anything really on your Chromecast.
- Open the Google Home App.
- Choose the menu tab in the upper left corner within the app and bring up the side menu.
- Select Cast screen / audio
This will as long as your Android device is linked to the Chromecast make your phone mirror on your television.
Now you can launch Kodi or any other app and stream exactly what you are watching on the screen.
The pro of this is that it is easy, convenient and works well. The con however is that if you use your phone or tablet for anything else while streaming without it being shown. Calls, messages and notifications will also be shown during the casting in this app and on the TV.
In this method not only will you be able to stream shows from Kodi streams, but also will be able to use other apps, answer messages and more without it interrupting the screen on your television. Kodi will actually stream in the background of your phone or tablet.

This method has a little more setup required to get it to work properly. You will need the following apps installed on your device and are all available for free at the Google Play Store.
- ES File Explorer
After you have all the apps above installed you will need to download the following file https://kodiwithjohn.com/chromecast/playercorefactory.xml.
You will need to use ES File Explorer to copy this file on your Android device to the following folder on your tablet Android > Data > org.xbmc.kodi > files > .kodi > userdata folder.
Once you have copied that file to the folder launch Kodi and try to stream a Kodi add-on stream to your Chromecast. If Kodi was running when you copied the file you will need to exit the program and re-launch it.
